A viral test tells you if you are infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, using samples that come from your nose or mouth. There are two types of viral tests: rapid tests and laboratory tests. COVID-19 testing is one of many risk-reduction measures, along with vaccination, masking, and physical distancing, that protect you and others by reducing the chances of spreading COVID-19.

Covid-19 symptoms can mimic many other conditions like, flu, strep throat, common cold.

If you are unsure whether you have COVID-19,  contact any of our  24- hour emergency room locations for details about COVID-19 testing criteria and testing locations. If in doubt about your COVID-19 status, it is better to err on the side of caution and get tested.

Treatment

Most adults even if fully vaccinated, may have mild-moderate symptoms of Covid 19. Usually these can be managed at home with rest, fluids and over-the-counter medications .

Those with more severe symptoms of COVID-19 such as difficulty breathing, chest pain or shortness of breath, are better off going to the emergency room.
